One round. Two ways to compete. On Friday, August 21, Jonathan’s Landing’s Medal Course hosts the DraftKings Shootout & Match Play Qualifier — an 18-hole stroke play championship in its own right, and the true qualifying round that builds the brackets for the Mid-Amateur and Senior-Amateur Match Play Championships, August 28–30. Every player in the field is competing for something the moment they tee off.

A Multi-Contest Event
The DraftKings Shootout & Match Play Qualifier is scored two ways. As the Shootout Championship, it carries its own purse and awards Player of the Year points to the top 10 finishers in each of three divisions — Open, Senior, and Super Senior — regardless of whether a player is chasing a Match Play berth. As the True Qualifier, the same 18 holes seed the Mid-Amateur and Senior-Amateur Match Play brackets. Players who advance keep competing for an additional purse and additional Player of the Year points in the Championship Flight, August 28–30.
Opt-In / Opt-Out Declaration
True Qualifiers must declare their intentions — opt in or opt out of Match Play contention — before starting the Qualifying round on August 21. Every player still competes for the Shootout purse and Player of the Year points regardless of which way they declare.
Match Play Field Selection (64 Players Advance)
The top 32 Mid-Amateur (25–49) players and the top 32 Senior (50+) players — Super Seniors included — qualify for their respective Championship Flights, August 28–30. A single 18-hole seeding round of stroke play builds both the Mid-Amateur and Senior match play trees; after the round, each field splits into its own Championship Flight. Alternates are selected from the seeding round in case any qualifier is unable to compete.
Open to all PBCGA members and non-members who will have reached their 25th birthday by the start of the Championship. The defending Mid-Amateur Champion and runner-up, and the defending Senior-Amateur Champion and runner-up, are exempt directly into their respective Championship Flights.
Field Filling & Exemption Authority
PBCGA reserves the right to adjust exemptions and the method of filling the Match Play field at its sole discretion, both before and after the Qualifier, to ensure a complete and competitive bracket. PBCGA may modify, add, or remove exemptions based on the size and composition of the Qualifier field, the status of past champions and runners-up, performance-based entry criteria, or current Player of the Year standings.
If the Qualifier does not produce enough players to complete the Match Play bracket, or if an exempt player is unable to compete, PBCGA may fill the remaining positions by expanding or adjusting performance-based exemptions, by using current Player of the Year standings, or by any combination of these methods it determines appropriate. An exempt player who withdraws will be replaced using the same authority.

The Medal Course at Jonathan’s Landing’s Old Trail campus in Jupiter was designed by Tom Fazio in 2017 — a stern, well-guarded test that makes for an honest stroke play qualifier before the match play brackets shift next door to the Match Course.
